Fish at Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience, Sept. 19-20

By Frank Oliver/DNR --The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience in September of 2013.

Surveys say 246 people fished for the first time at last year’s Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.

No matter what activities you try for the first time at this year’s event, plenty of other people will be just as new to them as you are.

Trying outdoor activities is the purpose of the seventh annual Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept.19-20.

Parking, entry and all activities are free to participants. The roughly 50 activities include archery, target shooting, mountain biking, disc golf, and much more. Participants can bring their own food or purchase food at reasonable prices from on-site vendors. All food vendors will offer credit card payment options.

An estimated 20,000 men, women or children participated last year. This year’s event will be held in a smaller, more centralized area in which participants will walk to each activity.

The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience is presented by the DNR and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation.

Online advance registration at is requested to assist the presenters and activity providers with staffing and planning. Watch for event updates there or at
