Wisconsin Smallmouth Bass Fest 2010: Day 1
We are reporting live from the upper reaches of Wisconsin, literally on the dividing line between Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan. Our field of glory is the Menominee River, the dividing line between the two states.
The area is beautiful, a typical northwoods setting. The river is a broad-shoulder affair, relatively shallow with water that looks like strong iced tea. It is so shallow that our party is using two jet-drive boats to navigate the shoals.
It has been raining non-stop since we arrived, which made for an uncomfortable day on the water. However, we came to catch smallmouth bass and Boy, did we!
Even though our host John apologized profusely for the lack of fishing action, This Writer believes he has died and gone to bronzeback heaven.
Check out the pictures below a few of the fat, heavy smallmouth. We will attempt to post daily, even though it takes a major expedition to find a wireless connection in the wilds of Wisconsin.
