More big news
On the heels of Thursday’s announcement of the huge land acquisition, part two of the idea was announced Friday.
Governor Daniels announced that 25,600 acres of bottom lands would be purchased along the Muscatatuck River. The land would sew together two separate areas of Jackson-Washington State Forest.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Rob Carter said in a statement: “To have a second major land conservation initiative like Muscatatuck Bottoms launched on the heels of yesterday’s announcement about the Wabash River project makes about as strong a statement on conserving Indiana’s natural resources as anyone could imagine. This is significant.”
