While driving around this morning we were drawn to an odd sight: a swarm of  squirrels.

Absent-mindedly cruising through our local park, I noticed a collection of smallish round objects on the snow encircling two trees.  As I drew closer, I realized they were squirrels.

Unfortunately the pictures don’t  do justice to the overall surreality of the scene but they do give a partial glimpse of the strange congregation.  In my estimation, there was at least 30 squirrels there, all sitting placidly under the two trees minding their own business, as if waiting for a bus.

We can only imagine the reason for the gathering.  Perhaps they were waiting to mug a jogger??
