From 1997 (some things never change…)

That’s Dedication- Last Monday, several hundred fisherman competing in an ice fishing tournment found themselves adrift when the ice cracked.   Rescue crews descended on Lake Simcoe near Barrie, Ontario, and took 300 people off the ice with helicopters and hovercraft.  However, suprised emergency crews found that several hundred other fisherman chose to stay on the lake in their heated fishing shacks waiting until the ice drifts back to shore or the gap refreezes.  No injuries have been reported but you must wonder what happens when the beverage supply is exhausted.

“Big Duke Six to control.  I’m hovering over the ice floe and several guys are waving and stamping out an emergency message in the snow.  Standby; they are spelling out a word: B..E…E…”
