Local boy (sorta) makes good
Old friend and Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Tony Mann, formerly the conservation officer assigned to our county, made the national news this week with the tale of an owl rescued after it smashed a pickup truck.
The Associated Press reported that Mann, of Dubois County, was called last weekend by a Sheriff’s Deputy investigating a crash in which a great horned owl flew into the radiator of a Ford pickup truck, rendering the vehicle undrivable and the owl seriously injured.
Mann extricated the owl and sent it to a wildlife rehabilitator in Vincennes, Indiana for treatment.
The truck was towed in critical condition to Acme Auto Repair (OK, I made that part up.)
Note to Tom Griswold of the Bob & Tom Show- the locals pronounce it “Doo-Boys”, not “Doo-bwaa. Not a big mistake, but make sure you have this under your belt before visiting Jasper!
