Hiking trail, other areas at Fairfax SRA to close temporarily for bowhunting shoot, June 12-18

Monroe Lake is hosting the second leg of the International Bowhunting
Organization’s (IBO) National Championship Triple Crown tournament on
June 15-17 at Fairfax State Recreation Area.

For safety and logistical purposes, an area of Fairfax State Recreation
Area will be closed to the general public from June 12-18. The closure
affects land west of the main park road, which includes the hiking
trail, hunting area and some shelters.

Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina, the boat ramp and the swimming beach
will remain open to all visitors.

The Triple Crown of Bowhunting consists of three target-shooting
tournaments hosted in separate states. Around 800 archers are expected
to participate at Fairfax SRA.

The tournament’s vendor area, including some food vendors, will be in
the beach parking lot and open to the general public.

Fairfax State Recreation Area (stateparks.IN.gov/2954.htm) is located at
9801 S. Fairfax Road, Bloomington.
